Green Sheep in the Brave New World
Viv Forbes
A new edition of the Sherana Sheep Report has been produced.
We are sending it on to non-farmers and media people because it is important to understand and communicate the story of the carbon cycle. Please pass on to farming friends, teachers, local media and anyone who hopes to keep stoking up the belly combustion engine with carbon fuels at the breakfast table (and of course anyone who like a tender tasty roast leg of lamb these winter nights.) We apologise if you have got this more than once - some people are on more than one list.
We hear a lot about geo-sequestration - a foolish, costly, unnecessary and unproved proposal to bury valuable carbon dioxide deep in the earth. Plant-sequestration is a better option - let plants flourish and take up the valuable aerial fertiliser from the atmosphere. But ovine-sequestration is important also, and totally unrecognised.
Here is our Sherana Sheep Report:
Warning: This report strays into fields that could offend some readers and thus has been hidden on our web site. Open at your own risk.
It tells stories so tall that the file was too large to fit down the top wire of our fence to the pedal radio phone exchange at Mount Walker. So we have gone high tech and made a pdf (whatever that is) for you to download. Mother-of-all-Things says it will never be seen again, but I told her we have a very computer-smart readership. And lots of nice people who will print a copy for their computer-impaired friends.
Topics include:
Why all sheep are green (with photographic proof).
Carbon Copy Sheep — some in
triplicate.
Trading in hot air (politicians do it all the time).
Omens for the future — warm & wet, or cold & dry?
A bright future for sheep, even woolies (and all food producers).
The secrets of producing good sheep meat.
Do it yourself — how to breed, feed, slaughter, hang and cook sheep.
The Lamb Olympics Champions.
Dogs and worms — a scary and salutary story.
Watching Pink Bottoms (these images may be disturbing to some viewers).
More global warming — “The Winter from Hell”.
A bit of bull.
Final proof of Green Sheep.
We hear a lot about geo-sequestration — a foolish, costly, unnecessary and unproved proposal to bury valuable carbon dioxide deep in the earth. Please pass this on to all those suffering from flatulence or indigestion. We are all in danger from the carbon police. (Of course, if all this offends you, we apologise, but that is how we see it.) Pls let us know what you think of all this.
And remember to repeat, every night, the Shepherd’s Oath: All Sheep are Green.
