Bucket List Dream Destinations

We all know that traveling is a fabulous way to escape the routines of everyday life but, even if this is your passion or even a part-time hobby, it’s difficult to choose where to go. Whether you regularly jet away to a new destination or are looking for travel inspiration, here are a few suggestions for some of the coolest locations that you should add to your bucket list.

French getaways

Paris, France, is the dream destination for many travelers, with its world-famous landmarks, museums, culture, and cuisine. In a relatively compact space, you can see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre-Dame Cathedral, so much more besides. Take a walking tour through the Montmartre arts district, wander through streets that are rich with history, and view the variety of architecture in the city.

Of course, there’s much more to France than Paris, and the Riviera is not to be missed. Sample exquisite wines, indulge in local cuisine, take a leisurely bike ride along the Rhone, or go on a river cruise to Lyon. All these areas offer historic architecture and fine dining, but at a slower pace than Paris.

Galapagos Islands

When you think of the Galapagos Islands, you probably imagine sandy white beaches and giant tortoises, which can both be found on the island of Santa Cruz. Each year, around January and February, black turtles swim up to the coast and lay their eggs on the stunning beaches. Clearly, this is an utterly unique phenomenon and should not be missed, so try to plan your getaway to this warm island destination to coincide with this amazing event.

If you can’t get to see the turtles laying their eggs, you can always check out privately-owned animal sanctuaries for a close-up experience with giant tortoises at any time of year. Sea lions sprawl out on the beaches of San Cristobal Island, and you are likely to catch a glimpse of wild iguanas, lizards, birds, and more. Isabela Island is the place to visit if you a bird-watcher. From penguins to frigate birds, this island offers a unique variety of birds to see.

To see the islands’ strangely beautiful landscape, a journey through the hardened lava formations and tunnels is not to be missed. For a further look at the ecology and history of the islands, you should also visit the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz Island.

Finally, as long as you keep your distance from the wildlife, you can catch some waves by swimming, snorkeling, or surfing, and witness the incredible underwater wildlife the islands have to offer.

Peruvian adventure

Machu Picchu, Peru is a fantastic destination for outdoorsy travelers to consider. You simply cannot miss the chance to hike up the rugged mountains of the Inca Trail to the breathtaking Incan ruins.

On your quest to seek out ancient ruins in Peru, you must include a trek to Sacsayhuaman in Cusco. When you arrive, it may take a moment, but you will soon appreciate the enormous, perfectly stacked rocks that once formed an ancient city here. Just remember to be prepared and go with a guide so as to avoid altitude sickness.

Japan

You could easily spend a month traveling the whole length of Japan without seeing everything. From traditional beauty to high-tech culture, Japan has it all.

Visit ancient temples and shrines across the country to soak up astounding traditional eastern architecture and design. Enjoy light conversation, playful games, and delightful food such fresh sushi, or take a guided tour for a taste of everything local. Feast your eyes on digital ads in the heart of Tokyo or visit Japan’s expertly-manicured parks and gardens to connect with nature.

Touring the U.S.

While waiting for your passport to be processed, remember that there are so many destinations to check out in the US. There’s something for every interest.

Nature lovers should check out all the national parks and view natural wonders like the Grand Canyon or ancient cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. While it’s not a park, you can still appreciate nature while taking a bus tour of New England, especially during fall when the foliage turns orange, brown, and gold.

If you are more of an urban adventurer the New York City has to be top of your bucket list. You can visit Times Square, catch a Broadway show, try cuisine from almost any culture, visit world-renowned museums, or just sit back in Central Park and watch the city rush past you.

Make your dreams reality

Choosing your dream destination might be easy, but paying for it is another thing. Some destinations can be expensive, so you have to plan ahead.

While traveling is a massive thrill, you might have to win the lottery just to afford a trip to certain destinations. Remember to check past lottery numbers to see if you’re lucky enough to have a winning ticket for the Mega Millions: you never know, you might have already won the prize money for your trip.

If not, you’ll just have to plan and save carefully to check off your bucket list destinations. You can save money by organizing your trip during the off-season for lower rates. Check price comparison websites and use points that you may have accumulated for flights and hotel stays. Also, you should consider similar but more affordable destinations to make your budget go further.

Remember, there’s a world waiting to be explored, so always keep thinking about your next destination. Choose where you want to go and plan how to make it happen. Hopefully, some of these ideas will help you to arrange your bucket list and begin your globetrotting adventures as soon as possible.
