How to do a Self-spray tan at Home due to COVID-19 Lockdown?
The spring has finally knocked on our doors, and with it, it’s time to head to the beach or tanning salons to get tanned. But as we are locked in our homes due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, going for a tanning session is not an option. Although UV tanning salons near me and you have halted their operations till the end of the outbreak, there are a few things we can do at home.
Tanning at home or DIY tanning has been a part of many people’s summer beauty regime. Home tanning is a safer and effective alternative to sun tanning. Besides preventing the sun’s UV rays from damaging our skin, tanning at home keeps the skin glowing golden.
However, if not done correctly, DIY tanning can result in patchy, streaky tan that is nothing but an orange disaster. There are many body parts like knees, the areas in between the fingers, or elbows that are hard to give a natural tan look.
If you are missing out going to the largest tanning salon chains, you can give home tanning a try. In this article, we are going to share some tanning tips for perfect tan results.
Easy Steps to Home Tanning
Step 1 Exfoliate 24 hours early: When tanning at home, one must remember the 24 hours rule. Exfoliating, waxing, or shaving right before applying the tanning solution can cause skin irritation and unwanted blotchiness. So, always take one day to prepare your body for tanning.
Step 2 Prepare: Now that you have exfoliated the dead skin from your body, it’s time to prepare for the session. Since the chemicals in the deodorant react with bronzers, you should remove it from your body. Pull your hair and make a bun and cover it with a shower cap. Now take a little bit of moisturizer and coat your eyebrows with it. Doing so will prevent your eyebrows from turning orange. Keep the dry body areas like heels, feet, elbows, and hands from absorbing the tanner by rubbing lotion.
Step 3 Start from the lower half: When tanning, remember to work upwards. Always start from your lower body parts as it will prevent the formation of creases when bending over. You should hold the spray can at least eight inches away from your skin. You should spray the solution in up to downwards motion steadily. Aim to spray even layers. The skin in the areas like heels, ankles, and feet can absorb more solution, so use little solution there.
Step 4 Focus on the middle part: When spraying your torso, divide it into three sections to make spraying easier. Start spraying the middle first for going for the sides. Spray lightly on your chest area as the skin there is usually more absorbent. Now, move to your arms. When spraying your armpit, don’t use too much solution. You must be gentle when spraying your wrists as well.
Step 5 Don’t forget your face: For even looking tan, you should tan your face carefully. Spray on your face in sections. Once your face is done, spray the solution on the top of your hands. Now, use a dry cloth to dab your inner wrists and tops of the hands.
